Matt Walker - Deputy Manger

Coming from a background working with challenging young people within school and community settings, I felt that stepping into a children's home environment would be a new challenge and indeed it was, but one that I have enjoyed every moment of. I worked as a youth worker, participation worker and other roles regarding young people who were struggling to achieve within their environments and supported the young people through education, building independence skills, supporting young people within housing and other things to help their transition into adulthood.

I began my journey with taking a lead within independence building and working as a Senior residential support worker, supporting the young people at the time into building skills for their next stages in life. When they moved on I became a Senior Residential Support worker fulltime and working within Oakfield House. Through my time here, I was given the opportunity to develop my learning and underwent my Level 5 in Residential childcare management which I completed recently. This opened the door to me stepping into a Deputy Manager role here at Oakfield House supporting Manoli with the running of the 5-bedroom  home.
